Approx. 8 hours
2 :
According to the airlines, a nonstop flight from San Francisco to London is about 10 hours and 25 minutes.
3 :
A non-stop flight on United Airlines flight UA935 which departs San Francisco around 6 p.m. takes 9 hours 40 minutes actual flight time because of tail winds. Flights from London to San Francisco take about an hour longer.

take BART from the airport to fremont. its cheap and stops in fremont.
2 :
About 40 miles..take Bart from the airport to San Francisco to Fremont..you may have to change trains in San Francisco. have a good trip
3 :
From SFO Airport to center of Fremont is about 32 miles via 101 & 84. Once you know where you want to go in Fremont, locate the address on a map and find out how far it is from a BART station. If it is close by, you can take a BART train to Fremont. Otherwise, you can try a cab. it costs you about 65-70 bucks. If that is expensive, try a shuttle. It should be less than 20 bucks. NOTE: I dont think BART runs on Saturday and Sunday between SFO and Fremont. Check it out before you leave.

San Francisco! Woah..!! Love that place.. Alright if its for the first time.. U can visit.. 1)Bay Bridge 2)Fisherman̢۪s Wharf.. (Ghiradelli Square and Pier 39) 3)Golden Gate Bridge 4)Japantown 5)The O Farrel Street & the Crooked Street... 6)The Chocolate House & a lunch/Dinner at the Nans & Curries Restaurant at the heart of San Francisco.. Its an Indian Cuisine restaurant & U cant miss it! :D For shopping u have a lot of choice left like The Nordstorm WestField Mall..(Union Square) the best of all.. The Apple TM Shop.. The Macys.. Niki Town & lots more.. Its a fun place to be at! Enjoy the city! These can be covered in a Day & they r worth a watch!! U can use the trams of this city or cabs are faster to reach places.

He should enjoy Alcatraz, The San Francisco Zoo, Fisherman's Wharf, Driving down the "crookedest street in the world" (Lombard St), Chinatown, riding a cable car, and Calfornia Academy of Sciences (in Golden Gate Park). The shopping is good at Ghiradelli Square and Pier 39 on Fisherman's Wharf. Also good is the Embarcadero Center (Embarcadero) and Westfield San Francisco Center in Union Square.
3 :
Chinatown is a great place to get SF souvenirs at reasonable prices and he can try the hot Chinese pastries (aka: dim sum). They are fun finger foods and mild in flavor so ppl from all kinds of backgrounds like em. There are shrimp dumplings, pork dumplings, custard tarts, egg rolls, etc. If he wants some good Italian food/pizza, a visit to North Beach is convenient (next door to Chinatown). The Japanese Tea Garden in Golden Gate park is worth a look. Union Sq is full of high end stores-- Burberry, Saks, Neiman-Marcus, etc. He might like a cable car ride all the way to Fisherman's Wharf. The view of the SF Bay is great-- videos don't cut it. You have to see it in person. Alcatraz (the old jail) is a fun visit too. He won't be bored.

hey buddy! yes its possible to use a train, it will probably take about 4-5 hrs by train, unless it stops to pick up other passengers on the way. I actually drove from san diego to san francisco once, it took almost 9 hrs, I stopped a few times to eat, it as actually quite lovely by the way. San fran is beautiful, its so different, however there are alot of cloudy days but its still a beautiful city, the atmosphere is amazing, hope this helps!
2 :
Actually the train takes about 14 hours and it goes to Oakland. Then they bus you into San Francisco. Go to amtrak.com for more information. This is a very secnic way. But if you want fast, you go Southwest Airlines.
3 :
The train will take 14 hours. It is called the Coast Starlight (Amtrak) and it goes once a day. Another option is to take the train to Los Angeles (this train, the Pacific Surfliner, goes every hour) and then a shuttle (cashuttlebus.com) to SF.
4 :
If you book 14 days in advance, you can get great rates from http://wwwsouthwest.com. It's faster and cheaper to fly than to take the train.

You can maybe walk or swim--hey, they ARE other ways, which is what you asked for. :) (But of course they'd probably normally take too long or be too hard.)
2 :
Try this site http://transit.511.org/
3 :
- Vallejo Transit #80 will get you to the El Cerrito Del Norte BART station (4.50 one-way). http://www.vallejotransit.com/routes.html - You can then take the BART subway into Downtown San Francisco (3.80 one-way). http://www.bart.gov/stations/map/systemMap.asp Using the regular bus-subway combination costs $16.60 round-trip. The ferry costs $23.00 round-trip. If you do it this way, you'll save $6.40. However, you might notice that the passengers on the ferry are a more laid-backed and happy bunch (they have more money).
